If you have landed on this page then you may have already had a look through our website where you’ll have seen some of our beautifully converted custom campers. You’ll probably have noticed that we tend to use the VW T5 or T6 for our conversions…why?
There are a range of VW vans available, the old school T2 with it’s split screen may appeal to those looking for a vintage camper experience or maybe they hold a special place in their heart for the cult 50’s icon.
Now while a T5 or T6 might not have the nostalgia factor of the old 50’s VW, they do have plenty of other redeeming qualities such as space, comfort, power steering and reliable mechanics (T2 fans please don’t take offence, I love the T2 as much as the next guy…)
When it comes to the difference between the T5 and T6 there is little difference with the overall vehicle from a cosmetic side of things, yes the bumpers and headlights have been updated to give a more rounded, modern look on the T6 and the rear window is larger but overall the general look of the T5 and T6 is very similar. But, the technology has been improved in the T6, with better overall efficiency and the emergency breaking system, a new Euro 6 diesel engine which is clean and highly efficient. But overall both versions are great examples of VW craftsmanship with excellent build quality, powerful, yet frugal, engines and all round reliable vans that make the perfect camper.
By choosing to go with the T6, or the T5, you can have a camper van that is individual to you, choosing what goes on the inside to make your customer camper you ‘ideal location on four wheels’, and The T6 was named the Auto Express Van of the Year 2016.
When it comes to options we offer three different specification types for conversion, (you can see full specs here), in the Custom Sport, the custom 4 and the Custom 2, all three of which are great choices.
So why choose the T6 for your dream conversion? Well they are extremely reliable, spacious, comfortable, cool and perfect for converting to a camper that you can make your own.
We’re going to look at exactly how we convert our campers in an upcoming post, but in the meantime thanks for stopping by and why not have a look at our current range of D&R Custom Campers while you’re here.
